Description

Pirlimycin HCl is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits the growth of a variety of bacteria by inhibiting the synthesis of cell wall precursors. It also has a number of other effects, including inhibition of epidermal growth factor and enzyme activities in streptococcus species. Pirlimycin HCl has been shown to bind to and inhibit the activity of polymyxin B, which is an antibiotic used to treat infections caused by Gram-negative bacteria. The drug also binds to and inhibits nitro groups, which are found in some pharmaceuticals. Pirlimycin HCl has been shown to have significant interactions with human serum components such as tetracycline resistance and Michaelis-Menten kinetics.
