Tigemonam is a new drug candidate that has shown antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It has been shown to be effective against P. pastoris, which is resistant to other drugs in the same class. Tigemonam inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the dinucleotide phosphate of DNA, disrupting DNA synthesis and causing cell lysis. This drug also shows human serum stability and has a low toxicity profile. Tigemonam is also active against strains of P. aeruginosa that are resistant to other drugs in its class, such as amoxicillin-clavulanic acid (AMX-CA).
