Ethyl 2-amino-2-methylpropanoate is a prodrug that is metabolized to its active form in the liver. It inhibits the activity of human liver enzymes and has an inhibitory potency of 3.2 μM. The drug has been shown to be effective against raney nickel and methyl ester, but not against phosphorus oxychloride or alkynyl groups. Ethyl 2-amino-2-methylpropanoate is a potent inhibitor of cyclic peptides with nitrogen atoms at positions C1 and C3. It also inhibits the activity of human liver enzymes, including cytochrome P450, UDP glucuronosyltransferase, and glutathione S-transferase. This drug may have potential for use in treatment of human cancers due to its effect on DNA synthesis and cell division.
