1,4-Dimethyl-2-iodobenzene is an organic compound that is a monosubstituted aromatic compound. The iodonium ion formed by the reaction of 1,4-dimethyl-2-iodobenzene with an electrophile can be stabilized by a benzenesulfonic acid to form the corresponding biaryl. The halogenation of 1,4-dimethyl-2-iodobenze generates the corresponding iodobenzene. It can also be used as a catalyst for enamine reactions. Thallium(I) reacts with 1,4 dimethyl 2 iodobenzene to form 2,4,6 trimethylaniline and thallium(III) ions.
