Description

Auraptenol is a natural compound that has been found to be a major component of the essential oil of the roots of Angelica Dahurica and Perilla. It is also used as an insecticide and a pesticide. Auraptenol exhibits anti-allergic activity, inhibiting IgE-mediated allergic reactions in mice by blocking the synthesis of prostaglandin E2. It also suppresses the production of leukotrienes and other inflammatory mediators. In addition, auraptenol has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects in female mice, which may be due to its ability to inhibit 5-lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase activities.
