Bismuth telluride is an inorganic compound that is dimensionless. It is a semiconductor material with a high work function that has been used for thermoelectric and photovoltaic devices. Bismuth telluride can be synthesized by reacting gold nanoparticles with bismuth and sulfur, or by reacting bismuth chloride with dodecanethiol and sulfide. This material has also been studied in the synthesis of nanowires and polyvinylpyrrolidone.
