Description

2-Hydroxyoctadecanoic acid is a fatty acid that belongs to the group of phytanic acid. It has been shown to have anticancer properties, which are due to its ability to inhibit the proliferation of prostate cancer cells in vitro. 2-Hydroxyoctadecanoic acid inhibits amyloid protein formation by binding to the hydroxyl group on these proteins and preventing them from aggregating into plaques. This molecule also interacts with cerebroside molecules and forms hydrogen bond interactions with them, which may be related to its anticancer activity. Preliminary experiments have shown that 2-hydroxyoctadecanoic acid inhibits cancer cell growth and metastasis.
