Description

1-Pyridin-4-yl-N-(pyridin-4-ylmethyl)methanamine is a prodrug that is soluble in water. It has been designed to be used as a conditioning agent to improve the success rate of implanting or reconstituting a drug. The drug binding properties of 1-Pyridin-4-yl-N-(pyridin-4-ylmethyl)methanamine have been shown to increase the uptake of proton and iontophoresis agents into cardiovascular tissues. This compound has also been shown to reduce vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation and vasoconstriction, which may lead to improved blood flow. 1-Pyridin-4-yl-N-(pyridin-4-ylmethyl)methanamine has also been used in diagnostic tests for detecting cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis and coronary heart disease.
