Benzene, 1,1'-(1-methylethylidene)bis[4-methoxy-, is also used as low energy radiation in electron microscopy to produce images of biological structures. It has been shown to modulate human liver cells and human DNA. The compound's light emission is due to its ability to absorb light at certain wavelengths and release it at others.
