N±-(2,4-Dinitrophenyl)-L-arginine is a bioactive chemical that has been shown to have potential use in the treatment of cervical cancer. This compound has been shown to have optical imaging properties and can be used as a probe for the evaluation of cervical cancer. The geranyl group on this compound is responsible for its antibacterial activity. N±-(2,4-Dinitrophenyl)-L-arginine has also been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria by binding to bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are enzymes that maintain the integrity of bacterial DNA. This compound has also been shown to inhibit uptake of d-pinitol by cells, which may be due to its ability to bind to cell surface receptors or heptacosane, an antitumor agent.
