Ethyl 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxybenzoate has also been shown to inhibit cystathionine synthase and the sulfotransferase pathway. These pathways are associated with the production of hydrogen sulfide, which is responsible for many gastrointestinal diseases such as gastritis.
