Description

6α-Methyl hydrocortisone-d4 is a synthetic corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and immunosuppressive properties. It is the most potent form of hydrocortisone. 6α-Methyl hydrocortisone-d4 has been used in synthetic chemistry to produce substances that are similar to natural steroids. This compound can be synthesized by methylenation of 17β-hydroxyprogesterone using sodium methoxide and methyl iodide in methanol. The resulting product is then esterified with diazomethane giving 6α-methyl hydrocortisone-d4.
