1-Methoxy-4-phenoxybenzene is a phenol that can be used as an additive in the production of plastics. Phenols are generally prepared by reacting benzene with nitric acid. This reaction produces a mixture of ortho, meta, and para isomers of phenol. 1-Methoxy-4-phenoxybenzene can be used to produce polycarbonates and other plastic compounds.
