Description :
2-Methyl-4-phenyl-3-butyn-2-ol is a molecule that contains a hydroxyl group, an alkynyl group, and a carbonyl group. This compound is an efficient hydrogen bond donor to the potassium ion, and is also capable of donating two hydroxyl groups to form hydrogen bonds. 2-Methyl-4-phenyl-3-butyn-2-ol has been shown to have bacteriostatic activity in vitro. It was isolated from natural sources with an isolated yield of 98%. The reaction mechanism for this compound is not yet known.
