2-tert-Butyl-indolizine is an indolizine that is a member of the acetylene family. It has been shown to undergo cyclizations and quaternizations, as well as present in ketones. The structural analysis of 2-tert-butyl-indolizine has been carried out by x-ray structural analysis and by synthesis. 2-tert-Butyl-indolizine can be synthesized from ethyl propiolate and propiolate with the use of x-rays. This molecule has two isomeric forms, cis and trans, which differ in the orientation of the methyl group on the benzene ring.
