1-Chloro-4-cyclopropylbenzene is a nitrate that can be used as a reagent in organic synthesis. 1-Chloro-4-cyclopropylbenzene converts to cyclopropanes by reacting with alkenes in the presence of an acid catalyst. The yield for this reaction is high and 1-chloro-4-cyclopropylbenzene is efficient for use in ammonium nitrate production. 1-Chloro-4-cyclopropylbenzene can also be used to dehalogenate chlorinated hydrocarbons and react with hydrogen gas to form cyclopropanes.
