Description

2-Chloroethyl 2-methylprop-2-enoate is an organic solution that exhibits antibacterial efficacy against herpes simplex virus. It can also be used as a sealant and has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria in the presence of hydroxyl groups. This active compound is cationic polymerized with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, forming a film-forming polymer. The film helps to prevent the spread of infection on surfaces and can be used as a dry weighting agent for radiation protection. 2-Chloroethyl 2-methylprop-2-enoate has acid or base complexing properties that help it to bind to fatty acids, which are needed for bacterial cell division. The presence of aldehyde groups and carbonyl group make this compound reactive with proteins and nucleic acids, respectively.
