Description

Gancaonin G is a potent antibacterial agent that has been shown to have the ability to inhibit the growth of mucosal lesions. It binds to the penicillin-binding proteins in the bacterial cell wall by competitive inhibition, preventing the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. Gancaonin G inhibits energy metabolism and glycolysis in cells by binding to prenyl groups in the electron transport chain. It has been used as a herbal remedy for various diseases such as systemic diseases, activated conditions, and insulin resistance. This drug also has antibacterial properties against staphylococcus bacteria.
