Description

N-Methyl-D-aspartic acid (NMDA) is a neurotransmitter that activates the NMDA receptor. It is also a major excitatory amino acid in the mammalian central nervous system, playing an important role in regulating synaptic plasticity and memory functions. NMDA has been shown to be involved in the regulation of energy metabolism, drug interactions, polymerase chain reactions, neuronal death, bowel disease and α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors.
