• Description: Compstatin is a peptide that is a potent inhibitor of potassium ion channels. Compstatin is an inhibitor of the voltage-gated potassium channel, Kv1.2, which plays a key role in the regulation of neuronal excitability. The Compstatin control peptide has been shown to inhibit the activity of Kv1.2 and other potassium channels such as Kv3.1, Kv3.4, and Kv7.2 at nanomolar concentrations in both native and recombinant systems with high affinity. This control peptide has also been shown to be capable of inhibiting ligand binding to receptors such as bradykinin B2 receptor and muscarinic M2 receptor with low micromolar concentrations with high potency
