Description

Pheophytin B is a soybean extract that has been shown to have antioxidant properties in diabetic patients. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used as an alternative to traditional Chinese herbs for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. Pheophytin B can be extracted from soybeans with organic solvents and purified by chromatography. This compound is then analyzed by analytical chemistry techniques, such as gas chromatography-mass spectrometry or liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry, which provide information on its molecular mass, elemental composition, and structure. The chemical ionization technique can also be used to detect pheophytin B in biological samples such as human tissue or cell culture.
