Yttrium tris(isopropoxide) (YIP) is a ceramics material that has optical properties. YIP can be used for the production of bimodal luminescent materials, which are materials that emit light in two different wavelengths. YIP converts to yttrium metal when heated and it is possible to produce yttrium metal by heating YIP with a liquid phase. The particle size and luminescent properties of YIP depend on the synthesis conditions. X-ray absorption experiments have shown that this compound has good kinetic stability, which means that it does not react easily with other compounds. In addition, the diffraction pattern of YIP is very sharp, making it an ideal material for use in optical devices.
