2,3,5-Trimethylnaphthalene is a synthetic aromatic hydrocarbon that is used in wastewater treatment and as a reaction product. It has been classified as a known human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). 2,3,5-Trimethylnaphthalene is found in coal tar and can be detected in air samples and in human tissue. The median concentration of 2,3,5-trimethylnaphthalene in wastewater ranges from 0.2 to 1.0 micrograms per liter. This compound is an eye irritant and may cause dermatitis or eczema when exposed to skin contact. Chronic exposure to 2,3,5-trimethylnaphthalene has been linked to cancer and other adverse health effects in humans.br>br>
