Description

Allolithocholic acid is an agent that can be used for the treatment of hypertension. It inhibits the absorption of cholesterol from the intestine and has a property of transporting cholesterol through the cell membranes. This drug also regulates glucose levels by inhibiting the uptake of glucose from blood into muscle cells. Allolithocholic acid is lipophilic and has been shown to be active in both mice and humans. Allolithocholic acid has also been shown to regulate blood pressure, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the α subunit of G proteins.
