Description

2-Hydroxy-1-naphthoic acid is an organic compound that has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes involved in metabolic disorders, autoimmune diseases, and HIV infection. It inhibits the activity of the enzyme carboxylate, which is involved in the synthesis of fatty acids. 2-Hydroxy-1-naphthoic acid also inhibits carboxylase and phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) activities. This inhibition may be due to its ability to bind to dinucleotide phosphate, which is involved in oxidative metabolism. 2-Hydroxy-1-naphthoic acid is a naturally occurring metabolite that has been found in foods such as wine and coffee beans. This compound has been shown to inhibit gram-positive bacteria more effectively than gram negative bacteria.
