Description

Hexyl Acrylate (HA) is an acrylic monomer that can be used to synthesize cationic polymers. It is a reactive monomer that has been shown to have the ability to react with propranolol hydrochloride, a beta-blocker drug, in order to produce a polymer of hydrophilic and hydrophobic properties. This polymer shows promise for use in tissue engineering as it can be crosslinked with chitosan gel and also has potential for use as a drug delivery agent for acrylates or fatty acids. The thermal expansion coefficient of HA is dependant on the degree of substitution, which may be due to the presence of polar groups.
