Octahydro-1H-isoindol-1-one is an isomeric compound that has been shown to inhibit the α2δ subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels. It has a high affinity for the carboxylate site on the α2δ subunit, and it inhibits the excretory function of detrusor muscle, which can lead to urinary retention. The b2 receptor is a G protein coupled receptor that is activated by bradykinin and regulates the activity of excitable cells. Octahydro-1H-isoindol-1-one binds to the b2 receptor, blocking its activation by bradykinin, which leads to vasodilation and inhibition of platelet aggregation. This agent also acts as an antiplatelet agent and as an adrenergic antagonist.
