Arachidonic Acid Methyl Ester (ARA-ME) is a fatty acid that consists of 20 carbon atoms and four double bonds. It is the methyl ester of arachidonic acid, which is an omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid. Arachidonic Acid Methyl Ester has been shown to be a potent activator of the nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) in human neutrophils and HL-60 cells. It also has many pharmacological effects such as anti-inflammatory properties, as well as enhancing brain functions and inhibiting polymorphonuclear leucocytes. ARA-ME is also used as a model system for studying enzyme activities and physiological effects on humans.
