Informations sur le produit
- 1,3-Benzodioxole, 5-(bromomethyl)-
5-(Bromomethyl)benzo[d][1,3]dioxole is an organometallic compound that is synthesised from hexamethylenetetramine and bromine. It can be used for the synthesis of quinine, a drug used to treat malaria. 5-Bromomethylbenzo[d][1,3]dioxole reacts with indole alkaloids such as piperonal in a nucleophilic addition reaction. This creates a five-membered ring containing one nitrogen atom, which has some similarities to the benzene ring. The functional groups on the molecule are bromo-methyl and dioxolane rings. The molecule has two asymmetric carbon atoms and can be synthesised by alkylation with chloroacetone.
