Description

Direct Red 81 is a dye that is used in wastewater treatment. It is an adsorbent for the removal of reactive organic matter and other pollutants from water, which are then converted to harmless substances by microorganisms. Direct Red 81 has been shown to be effective in removing organic matter from wastewater in a kinetic study using samples containing hydroxyapatite. This dye also binds to bacterial cells, which may be due to its ability to react with sulfhydryl groups on proteins or DNA. The toxicity of Direct Red 81 has been studied using vitro methods and it has been shown that this dye does not have any effect on bacterial growth or viability.
