N-Butylbenzamide is an amide that has anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. It is used as a conditioning agent in the treatment of infectious diseases. It has been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells, as well as inhibit the activity of proteasomes. N-Butylbenzamide also inhibits bile acid transport, which may be responsible for its beneficial effects in bowel disease. In addition, N-Butylbenzamide has been shown to reduce the symptoms of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in humans by inhibiting colonic inflammation.
