• Description: 2-Hydroxydodecanoic acid is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that belongs to the class of amides. It is used in the study of natural compounds and microbial enzymes. This compound has been shown to inhibit bacterial enzyme activities, such as beta-lactamase, DNA gyrase, and topoisomerase IV. 2-Hydroxydodecanoic acid has also been found to be an antimicrobial agent against a variety of bacteria, including E. coli and S. aureus. The sample preparation for this compound included the use of picolinic acid as a reagent. It was also determined that 2-hydroxydodecanoic acid contains a hydroxyl group in its chemical structure.
