2,4-Diethylglutaric Acid (DL- and meso- mixture) is a tetradentate ligand with the chemical formula CH(COCH=CHCOCH). It is used as an activator in coordination chemistry and as an extender in polyurethane synthesis. 2,4-Diethylglutaric Acid is a crystalline solid with a melting point of about 170°C. It has been shown to be soluble in various organic solvents and water. For example, it can dissolve in xylene at room temperature. This compound is not toxic and does not react with other materials.
