Description :
1-(tert-Butyldimethylsilyloxy)-1-methoxyethene is a hydrofluoric acid-sensitive synthetic intermediate that can be used in the synthesis of hydroxyacetals and acetals. It is synthesized by reacting diethylamine with resorcinol in the presence of an acetalating agent such as trifluoromethanesulfonic anhydride or trifluoromethanesulfonic acid.
1-(tert-Butyldimethylsilyloxy)-1-methoxyethene has been shown to react with benzyl bromide to form 1,2,3,4,5-pentabromobenzene and 1-(tert-butyldimethylsilyloxy)-1-methoxyethene.
