FMP is synthesized from 2-(4-fluorophenyl)imidazo[1,2-a]pyridinium ion (FPI) by reacting it with methylene malononitrile in the presence of a base. This reaction occurs by a nucleophilic attack from the hydroxy group of FPI on the methylene carbon atom of methylene malononitrile, giving rise to an imine nitrogen and hydroxyl group in FMP. The molecular weight of FMP is 184.17 g/mol and its chemical formula is C 10 H 8 FN 3 O
