Description

Eupalinolide I is a sesquiterpene lactone with potent antitumor activity. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. The compound is also a potential anti-inflammatory agent that inhibits collagen synthesis and suppresses the production of proinflammatory cytokines. Eupalinolide I has been shown to have no effect on cell viability, but exhibited an inhibitory effect on tumor growth in Sprague-Dawley rats. It also has an inhibitory effect on the production of IL-6 and TNF-α by LPS-stimulated human monocytes. This compound can be used as a lead molecule for development of new anticancer drugs.
