• Description: Ro 01-6128 is an agonist of the glutamate receptor subtype N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA). It has been shown to activate the receptor and produce pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) and interleukins. Ro 01-6128 also has been shown to increase glutamatergic neurotransmission in a model system. This drug has potential use as a pharmacological agent for eye disorders that are associated with inflammation, such as retinal degeneration or glaucoma.
