Description :Proinsulin connecting peptide (C-peptide), links the A and B chains of proinsulin. Upon enzymatic cleavage of C-peptide from pro-insulin in the pancreas, C-peptide is released into the blood stream along with insulin (A- and B-chains bonded together) in equimolar quantities. C-peptide can influence a wide variety of physiological conditions linked to diabetes, such as neuropathy, nephropathy, and encephalopathy. C-peptide is able to ameliorate and reverse the degrading effects of neuropathy in diabetes.
