(R)-(+)-Blebbistatin has been shown to be an efficient antimicrobial agent against drug-resistant bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The bactericidal effects of the drug have been attributed to its ability to inhibit fatty acid synthesis.
