• Description: TNF-α is a cytokine that is synthesized and secreted by cells such as activated macrophages, T cells, endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and keratinocytes. It has been shown to be a potent mediator of inflammation and plays an important role in the pathogenesis of many diseases. TNF-α is produced in response to immunological stimulation (e.g., LPS) or microbial invasion (e.g., bacteria). It binds to two receptors: TNF receptor 1 (TNFR1) and TNF receptor 2 (TNFR2), which are expressed on many cell types including monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, dendritic cells, B lymphocytes, eosinophils, mast cells and keratinocytes. The binding of TNF-α to TNFR1 leads to activation of NF-κB and JNK pathways. The binding of TNF-α to TNFR2 leads to activation
