(-)-N-BENZYLALANINOL is an antimicrobial that inhibits the growth of bacteria. It has been shown to be active in the urinary tract, where it prevents the formation of bacterial metabolites. (-)-N-BENZYLALANINOL is a competitive inhibitor of phenoxybenzamine, which is an anti-hypertensive drug. The compound also has cardiovascular and antimicrobial properties in humans and fungi.
