The compound has been shown to be an excellent substrate for the aerobic photooxidation of the cell membrane. 7-(4,4,5,5-Tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine is also stereoselective and can be used as a chiral building block for enantiomerically pure polymers. It has been shown to have cationic polymerization properties. This compound is also capable of photooxidation of isoprene.
