Phenylphosphonothioic dichloride is a reactive, toxic, and flammable compound that belongs to the group of halogenated aromatic compounds. It is used as a cross-linking agent in industrial preparation, but it is also known to be an irreversible inhibitor of xanthine oxidase. Phenylphosphonothioic dichloride has been shown to react with butanediol to form a thermally stable polymer used as a retardant in paints and coatings. This reaction solution was found to contain inorganic acid, carbonyl group and magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
