Description

Norathyriol is a covalent, reversible binding agent that binds to the Ryanodine receptor. It is used for the treatment of infectious diseases and has been shown to be active against bladder infections in animal studies. Norathyriol is also being studied as a potential treatment for diabetic neuropathy and HIV infection. The drug has been observed to bind to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) products from Mycobacterium tuberculosis DNA, interfering with RNA synthesis. In addition, Norathyriol binds to the Mcl-1 protein, inhibiting its ability to inhibit apoptosis. Norathyriol has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties in animal models of autoimmune diseases and eye disorders.
