1-(2-Hydroxyethyl) 4-methyl terephthalate is a chemical compound that is produced by the esterification of 1,4-butanediol and dimethyl terephthalate. It is a liquid at room temperature, with a viscosity in the range of 10 - 100 cSt. The reaction rate for this product is dependent on temperature, activation energy, and pressure. 1-(2-Hydroxyethyl) 4-methyl terephthalate has been shown to produce emissions such as CO 2 , HCl, and SO 2 . This product can be used as a solid catalyst in an analytical method for measuring the amount of impurities in polyester resins. 1-(2-Hydroxyethyl) 4-methyl terephthalate can be used as a reaction vessel or reaction system for products such as polyesters, polyamides, polyurethanes, or epoxy resins.
