Description

Methyl 2,3-dichloropropionate is a liquid that is soluble in most organic solvents. It has a boiling point of about 155 degrees Celsius. This compound is used as a reagent in organic synthesis and to produce other chemicals. The methyl group can be removed from the molecule by reacting with sodium borohydride or lithium aluminum hydride, while the chloride ion can be replaced with an acetyl group by reacting with acetic acid.
