4'-Iodo-4-dimethylaminoazobenzene (4'IDAA) is a nonlinear optical material that has been synthesized by condensation reaction. The experimental results show that the absorption spectrum of 4'IDAA exhibits a redshift of about 0.3 nm with respect to the absorption spectra of 4-dimethylaminoazobenzene (DABA). The technique used for the experiment was nonlinear optical spectroscopy, and the experimental results showed that 4'IDAA has an optimum at 450 nm and is a chromophore with good nonlinearity.
