Bephenium hydroxynaphthoate is an anthelmintic drug that belongs to the group of benzimidazoles. It is used in veterinary medicine to treat infections caused by worms such as lumbricoides, trichiura and strongyloides. Bephenium hydroxynaphthoate has a low toxicity and its effectiveness can be increased when it is combined with other anthelmintics. The drug binds to the worm's tubular system, which causes paralysis, leading to death. This effect is due to inhibition of protein synthesis in the parasite, preventing the formation of new tubules.
