Hexyl p-toluenesulfonate is a tosylate, which is a chemical compound that reacts with an enolate. It has been shown to be able to interact with protonated dione and form a stable crystalline complex. Hexyl p-toluenesulfonate has been shown to react with the dodecyl groups of polystyrene in the presence of chloride ions, forming hydrogen bonds with functional groups on the surface of polystyrene.
