2-Amino-3-pyrazol-1-yl-propionic acid (APPA) is a metabolic disorder drug that is also used to control diabetes. It is an acetaldehyde derivative that decreases the production of glucose in the liver by inhibiting pyruvate dehydrogenase, which is the enzyme responsible for converting pyruvate into acetyl coenzyme A. APPA prevents the accumulation of blood sugar and improves diabetes control by reducing blood glucose levels. 2-Amino-3-pyrazol-1-yl-propionic acid has been shown to be effective in preventing or delaying type 1 diabetes in animal models and can therefore be used as a preventive medicine. This drug has been shown to have toxicological effects on histidine synthesis, as well as on cucurbitaceae plants and ether extracts from them.
